Baked mac n’ cheese

Ingredients
- 150g smoked cheddar
- 75g gruyere
- 250g pasta
- 1 cup 2% milk
- 3/4 cup heavy cream
- 3tbsp butter
- 3tbsp flour
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2tsp onion powder
- 1/3 cup panko breadcrumb
Directions
- Preheat oven to 400°F.
- Boil pasta 2 minutes less than package directions; strain and return to pot.
- Mince garlic and grate cheeses.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat until slightly browned. Add garlic; sauté 1 minute.
- Whisk in flour; cook 2 minutes. Gradually whisk in milk and cream until thickened.
- Stir in cheeses (reserve 2/3 cup), onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth.
- Combine sauce with pasta. Transfer to casserole dish. Top with reserved cheese and breadcrumbs.
- Bake for 20 minutes.
